My name is Kate Hogeland.  I have been married to a wonderful man for ten years.  We have four amazing children ages six, four, two, and brand new! I live in Irondale, but work all over the greater Birmingham area.   

 

I am a DONA certifed birth doula.  I am also in the process of becoming a DONA certified postpartum doula.  I also doula for mothers who have not yet had their babies and need help late in pregnancy.  I am a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and do home visits for breastfeeding support. I offer Childbirth Education classes and Breastfeeding classes.  Evening classes and weekend classes are available to work with any schedule.  I also offer  Infant Massage classes for parents. Infant massage is a beautiful bonding expderience for parents and babies, and has many health benefits as well!  I also perform placenta encapsulation to help new moms ease the transition into motherhood.

 

Though I am taking a break this semester, I am working towards my RN degree.  I am also doing an apprenticeship with an amazing midwife who I am learning so much from.  I am extremely passionate about pregnancy, birth, mothers, and babies! Going into motherhood with your eyes open and the respect you deserve is very empowering. I believe a fulfilling birth experience has the power to transform a woman.  My goal is to help women achieve their ideal birth and postpartum experience.
